From Wealth Management to Real Estate Leadership
I originally started my career as a financial advisor working in wealth management for banking clients. Many of my clients knew that I invested in real estate part-time, and over time they became more interested in learning how to build wealth through real estate instead of only relying on traditional investments like mutual funds and annuities. That curiosity from clients is what ultimately pushed me deeper into the industry.
I began wholesaling properties nearly 20 years ago and spent about a decade focused heavily on acquisitions and investment opportunities. Eventually, I decided to obtain my real estate broker’s license because I saw an opportunity to professionalize the investor side of the business. At the time, wholesaling had developed a negative reputation in many markets, and I believed there was a better way to serve clients by creating systems, transparency, and long-term relationships.
Over the years, my approach to client service evolved from simply helping clients buy properties to helping them build complete investment portfolios. Today, our company assists investors through multiple stages of the process, including acquisitions, dispositions, lending coordination, property management, and brokerage services. We currently manage close to 400 properties, and that experience has taught me that real estate is not just about transactions—it’s about creating long-term strategies and solving problems creatively.
One of the biggest challenges buyers, sellers, and investors face in today’s market is understanding the variety of strategies available to them. Many sellers are unaware that options such as seller financing or wraparound mortgages may help them maximize value while creating opportunities for buyers. On the other side, many buyers struggle because they focus only on price instead of learning how to structure stronger offers and create win-win solutions.
When guiding clients through real estate decisions, I believe balance comes from organization, communication, and prioritization. I’ve always approached business with the mindset that everything important should operate within one clear system. Market insights, negotiations, and relationships all work together. Whether it’s a major closing or personal commitments with family, I believe priorities should be managed intentionally and with equal respect.
The Deals that Defined a Career
Looking ahead, I believe the future of real estate brokerage will revolve around critical thinking, advisory skills, and personalized guidance. Technology and artificial intelligence will continue automating many technical tasks, but clients will still value professionals who can think strategically, negotiate effectively, and help them navigate uncertainty.
For professionals entering the industry, my biggest advice is to find a niche and become highly knowledgeable within it. Real estate has countless paths—from short-term rentals and corporate housing to value-add multifamily investments and property management. The professionals who stand out are usually the ones who specialize rather than trying to be everything to everyone.
Throughout my career, I’ve been involved in thousands of transactions, but a few projects stand out. One memorable project involved purchasing an apartment complex in a challenging neighborhood that was beginning to gentrify. Many investors avoided the deal, but we saw long-term potential. The property was acquired for approximately $950,000 and later sold for around $2.5 million several years afterward.
I was also involved in one of the first “smart home” concepts in the Tampa Bay area years ago, focused on delivering modern technology features in affordable housing. In another case, I sold more than 100 property assignments to a single investor based in New York, which reinforced the importance of building trust and delivering consistency over time.
